What is prostatitis?
Prostatitis is an inflammation of the prostate gland.  Symptoms will be somewhat similar to  bladder infections. It may or may not be due to infections.
Some kinds of prostatitis may be a result of the muscles of the pelvis or the bladder not working correctly.
How is prostatitis treated?
The treatment is based on the cause. Antibiotics are used to treat prostatitis that is caused by an infection. Rarely abscesses develop that require treatment. Painkillers are used in chronic prostatitis.
